With NHL training camps opening soon, a sense of anticipation is growing regarding the potential rosters of the 30 teams for the upcoming season. Among the issues facing each club are the contract statuses of players eligible next summer for free agency.
Some, such as Los Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar (pictured above), are unrestricted free agents who could join another NHL team if unable to re-sign with their current clubs before next July. Others, like Calgary Flames center (and rising star) Sean Monahan, will be restricted free agents. All will seek significant raises in term and salary.
