Evander Kane Sued: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

A woman has filed a lawsuit against Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane regarding an alleged sexual assault in December.

On Tuesday, the Associated Press (via SportsNet) reported a woman identified as Rachel Kuechle filed her civil case July 1. Kane was cleared in March of criminal prosecution from the incident in his Buffalo hotel room.

According to the filing, Kuechle says she suffered "serious emotional trauma" and "serious, permanent and painful personal injuries" from Kane's alleged attack. Her account of the evening says Kane left her bloodied and in need of multiple surgeries to correct her undisclosed injuries.

The lawsuit claims Kane's physical contact was "unwanted, unconsented to, violent and offensive in nature physical battery."

Kane, who turned 25 on Tuesday, has yet to comment on this lawsuit. He denied all allegations and continued to play throughout the criminal investigation.

A civil suit typically carries a lesser burden of proof than a criminal case.
