Eddie Lack to Hurricanes: Latest Trade Details, Comments, Reaction

The Carolina Hurricanes have added goalie Eddie Lack in a deal with the Vancouver Canucks. The Hurricanes announced the deal on Saturday. 

According to Chris Johnston of Sportsnet.ca, Lack will be going to Carolina in exchange for a third-round draft pick this year and a seventh-rounder in 2016. 

Adding Lack does give the Hurricanes a crowded—and expensive—goalie situation that includes Cam Ward and Anton Khudobin. 

However, according to ESPN's Pierre LeBrun, the addition of Lack will potentially lead to another move Saturday involving Khudobin:



That would make sense, as the Hurricanes don't have a need to carry three goalies, with Ward making $6.8 million and Khudobin making $2.25 million next season. All three goalies are entering the final season of their respective contracts as well. 

Adding Lack, who had a strong 2.43 goals-against average in 82 games over two seasons with the Canucks, gives Carolina an opportunity to transition from Ward if the team decides to go younger in net after this season.
