Boston Bruins center David Krejci suffered an upper-body injury against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday. The Bruins announced they have placed him on injured reserve.

Griffith Replaces Krejci on Bruins Roster Tuesday, Dec. 29 The Bruins announced Seth Griffith was recalled from Providence after Krejci hit the IR.

Krejci's Injury Puts Bruins in Bind The Czech forward entered Tuesday as Boston's leading assist man with 22, and he was tied for the team lead in points with Patrice Bergeron at 33.

Per Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald, Bruins head coach Claude Julien acknowledged the team is suddenly in a tough spot at the center position behind Bergeron with Krejci on the shelf:

It's a long season and you're going to have challenges along the way. It's how you handle those challenges. And right now, as you know, we're being challenged because right down the middle, we've gotten thin where we used to have a lot of depth.
