The Philadelphia Flyers signed right winger Colin McDonald to a multiyear extension, the team announced Saturday.
It will be a two-way contract, per Bob McKenzie of TSN:
McDonald has spent most of the season with the Flyers’ AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, scoring 11 goals and adding 10 assists in 33 games. He has one goal in five games with the Flyers.
The 31-year-old, who last played for Philadelphia in December, came over from the New York Islanders and has 19 career goals in 145 games since entering the NHL in 2009.
He was the AHL Player of the Week in late January, and McDonald talked about his game at the time, per Stephen Gross of the Morning Call.
"I've always been [confident] in my ability to produce and I just told myself stick with it, it's going to come eventually," McDonald said. "Right now it's going pretty good for me."
There is no word on when McDonald may join the Flyers again, but it could be a matter of time if he keeps up his play with the Phantoms. The Flyers were in ninth place in the Eastern Conf ...
