Chicago Blackhawks: Why You Should Be Excited to See Dan Carcillo

By now, most of you know about Stan Bowman's shocking signing of Dan Carcillo on July 1, 2011.

In 282 NHL games, Carcillo has racked up 36 goals, 37 assists, 73 points and 986 PIM.

Shawn Thornton and Carcillo made up the first-ever NHL outdoor fight. He told broadcasters a few days earlier that this was his goal.

According to hockeyfights.com, Dan has fought 62 individual players.

At 5'11" and 202 lbs, he may not be the biggest guy out there, but he can handle himself.

I remember when the Chicago Blackhawks first began televising games. It felt like Christmas to a young 12-year-old girl, being able to watch future Hall of Famers Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane at home.

However, the best part of these games was watching former 'Hawks James Wisniewski and Adam Burish getting into fights to protect their players. It was great to have one player on the team that would protect our young guys, let alone two.
