The Philadelphia Flyers staved off elimination with a 2-1 win over the Washington Capitals in Game 4 on Wednesday night at the Wells Fargo Center.

Michal Neuvirth, making his first playoff start since 2011, stopped 31-of-32 shot attempts and came up huge in a frantic third period to lead his team to victory and force Game 5 in Washington Friday night.

Both of the Flyers goals came on blasts from the point by defensemen.

Shayne Gostisbehere opened the scoring with the first playoff goal of his career on the power play in the first period.

Andrew MacDonald netted what proved to be the game-winning goal early in the second period.

T.J. Oshie cut the lead in half with more than 17 minutes left in regulation, but despite some quality pressure the Capitals weren't able to solve Neuvirth, who made some high-quality saves to preserve the victory.
