Brian Boyle Injury: Updates on Lightning Star’s Status and Return

Tampa Bay Lightning center Brian Boyle missed the team's Game 1 clash with the New York Rangers on Saturday due to an unspecified injury. He's currently listed as day-to-day.

Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada passed along a note from the outlet's Scott Oake stating that the injury isn't serious:



Following the game, Lightning head coach Jon Cooper said, "Hopefully he comes back at some point," per Sean Hartnett of WFAN Sports Radio.

Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times added, "Cooper didn't have update on Boyle other than he's day to day. Big part of team. Hopes to get him back at some point."  

Boyle had 24 points while playing in all 82 games for the Lightning during the regular season. He's tallied just two points in 13 playoff appearances so far, though. So his absence shouldn't be a major setback for Tampa Bay.
