Breaking Down Minnesota Wild’s New Uniforms for 2013-14 Season

The Minnesota Wild have unveiled new uniforms at the State Fair—and they made the right call with the new design.

It is basically the inverse of the green third jersey, which was presented at the State Fair four years ago and sort of makes the home and road sweaters look more similar.

The Wild will still use the red uniform, which originally was a third sweater, as the home jersey, but it’s hard not to think that that sweater will either become a third jersey or be phased out entirely.

By removing the white away jersey from their wardrobe, the Wild have official cut ties with the original uniform scheme from the 2000 inaugural season. Minnesota’s original dark uniform looked like the white away jersey, only it was green in color. In 2003, the Wild added the red uniform, which eventually became the home jersey, and retired the green one entirely six years ago.

For the first time since 2007, the home and road uniforms look similar. This has to be a good omen, because the only other team I can think of off the top of my head that had dramatically different home and away uniforms were the Atlanta ...
