History will determine how the 2013 Stanley Cup champion will be remembered.

Critics may say that a 48-game regular season diminishes the accomplishments of the team that ends up hoisting the Stanley Cup, claiming the 48-game regular season was not enough of a test to legitimize the championship.

That would seem to be a claim that is easily debunked, because the level of competition was even more intense than usual since each point in the standings proved so valuable.

The Chicago Blackhawks are playing for the right to claim the NHL championship, but head coach Joel Quenneville's team has a lot more on the line than that.

If Chicago ends up winning the championship, the Blackhawks will have a second title in four years. That may not seem overly impressive, but no team that has won the Stanley Cup since 2003 has added a second Stanley Cup.

The Boston Bruins are in a similar boat. If the Bruins win the title, they would win their second championship in three years.
