Are the Pittsburgh Penguins Untouchable?

Two coaches were fined after they had not-so-nice words about the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Philadelphia Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette was livid after the Penguins sent the checking line out in a 6-3 game that they could not come back from.  He had words with Pittsburgh coach Dan Bylsma.

His fine for the outburst?  $10,000.

Bylsma pointed out the late cross check on Sidney Crosby by Brayden Schenn but failed to mention the cross check to Schenn by Crosby earlier in the game.  (I apologize for the annoying loop, but it was the only one I could find.)

Not long after, Brook Orpik committed a dangerous knee-on-knee on New York Rangers' Derek Stepan, and NYR coach John Tortorella was incensed.  He had choice words for the Penguins, and he got fined $20,000 by the league.

So that is $30,000 dollars for words to one team.  I don't recall that many fines costing that much.  Those were two very expensive speeches.

With Laviolette's tirade had him standing on the boards screaming at the top of his lungs at Granato and Bylsma, you'd think that would warrant a heavier fine than Tort ...
