The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired veteran center Antoine Vermette from the Arizona Coyotes for a first-round pick and a prospect, per the Blackhawks' website.

ESPN's Pierre LeBrun added that 23-year-old Klas Dahlbeck will be heading to Arizona as well.

The Blackhawks have been active ahead of the March 2 trade deadline. They also traded for defenseman Kimmo Timonen on Friday, sending two draft picks to the Philadelphia Flyers. Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times feels the team is making a hard push for the Stanley Cup:

NHL.com's Brian Hedger thinks that the Blackhawks gave up a lot to get Vermette but that the center should provide more than enough value to make the trade worth it:

The 32-year-old has played in 63 games this year, scoring 13 goals and assisting on another 22.

Chicago is currently well on track to make the playoffs, but between the trades for Timonen and Vermette, the Blackhawks are building themselves up as serious title contenders.
