2010 NHL Playoffs: Game One — Detroit Red Wings Vs San Jose Sharks

Tonight at 9:00pm EST the Red Wings open the second round of the 2010 NHL Playoffs at the Shark Tank.

There are two things riding on this series: San Jose has to prove that they are not choke artists and the Detroit Red Wings still have the "Champion" inside them.

After the first round for both teams, Detroit looks like to be the better of the two going into this Western Conference Semifinal showdown.

The top line of the Red Wings, Holmstrom-Franzen-Datsyuk, have a combined total of 19 points (nine goals, 10 assists) and a of plus-seven compared to San Jose's top line of Thornton-Marleau-Heatley at 10 points (one goal, nine assists and a plus- rating of minus-seven.

As far as the second line is considered. That has been Detroit's No. One success with Bertuzzi-Zetterberg-Filppula combining for 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) with a plus- rating of plus-12. San Jose's second line of Pavelski-Clowe-Setoguchi have a combined 23 points as well (nine goals, 14 assists) with a plus- rating of plus- 16.

This is hardly something to bank on but it is something to look forward to because San Jose's giants can awake at any time, but ...
