Winners, Losers from Bobcats-Pistons Trade Involving Corey Magette, Ben Gordon

According to league sources, the Detroit Pistons have sent Ben Gordon and a protected future first round pick to Charlotte for Corey Maggette, reports Yahoo Sports columnist Adrian Wojnarowski.

If this is true, there are huge ramifications for both teams heading into the draft.

Winners

The biggest winner in this is without a doubt Pistons team president Joe Dumars.

Dumars has taken quite a bit of heat for his terrible free agent signings, Charlie Villanueva and Gordon, both of whom were on the books for upwards of $41 million over the next two years.

By dealing Gordon's contract, this frees up Detroit to use their Amnesty clause to cut ties with Villanueva and turn the page on this whole infamous chapter of Pistons basketball.

These moves would save Detroit over $10 million off their salary cap number for next year, and would save an additional $11 million the following summer when Maggette's contract runs out.

Detroit now also has more options at number nine overall.
