Now that the dust has cleared, it’s time to make sense of the 2012 NBA offseason. While there were plenty of big splashes and obvious misfires, who flew under the radar for the perfect strike?

NBA featured columnist Joel C. Cordes and NBA assistant editor Ethan Norof discuss which teams were able to swoop in and nab the right player at the right price.

Since even the shrewdest move usually comes with some downside, the guys assign grades to each transaction.

In some cases, teams like the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves got desperate. Having missed out on the targets they really wanted, they executed strong fallback maneuvers to cover their tracks.

For teams like the Brooklyn Nets, it was about using a tight amount of cap space to nab the perfect backup.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks replaced one of their key offensive cogs with another quantity scorer at a fraction of the price.

The New York Knicks were too shrewd, bringing in a reasonable backup while botching the timing of the entire situation. They may have set their franchise back years in the process.
