Westbrook Records League-Leading 12th Triple-Double of 2015-16 Season

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook recorded his NBA-leading 12th triple-double of the season in Monday's 128-94 win over the Portland Trail Blazers, becoming the first player since Jason Kidd in 2007-08 to post a dozen or more triple-doubles in a single campaign, per NBA.com/stats.

Kidd actually accomplished the feat in both 2006-07 and 2007-08, but prior to that, Grant Hill (1996-97) and Magic Johnson (1990-91) were the last two players with 12 or more triple-doubles in a season.

Westbrook joined the club with an unusually efficient performance Monday night, putting up 17 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds without any turnovers, also making seven of his 11 field-goal attempts and adding two steals and a block.

He thus joined Magic Johnson and Scott Skiles as the only players since 1983-84 to have 16 or more assists and zero turnovers in a triple-double performance, per NBA.com/stats.

Equally as impressive, Westbrook joined Johnson and Chris Paul as the only players in the last 30 years to record at least four triple-doubles that included 15 or more assists in the same season, per ESPN Stats & Info.
