Warriors Tie NBA Record for Best Start Through 46 Games

With a 127-107 victory over the Dallas Mavericks Wednesday, the Golden State Warriors have tied the record for best start through 46 games in an NBA season at 42-4, per SportsCenter. With their fifth straight victory, the Warriors equaled the 1966-67 Philadelphia 76ers' mark.

The 1995-96 Chicago Bulls hold the record for most wins in a season with 72. Golden State will need to finish 31-5 to surpass the Michael Jordan-led bulls.



The NBA's leading scorer Stephen Curry is the engine that makes Golden State go, but it was his teammate Klay Thompson who was most responsible for the record-tying win. He dropped 45 points on Dallas behind 14-of-20 shooting and connected on 7-of-12 three-pointers and all 10 free throws.

Forward Draymond Green had to cool Thompson off with some water after the game, per NBA TV:



The defending NBA champions also won their 40th straight home game, a streak that started exactly one year ago Wednesday with a loss to the Chicago Bulls, and are 22-0 at Oracle Arena this season, per GSWStats.
