Tyreke Evans Injury: Updates on Pelicans Guard’s Knee and Return

The New Orleans Pelicans were dealt a potentially major blow to their chances of upsetting the Golden State Warriors in their first-round playoff series, as Tyreke Evans had to leave Game 1 with a knee injury.

Evans Suffers Knee Contusion, Unable to Return in Game 1 Saturday, April 18 The Pelicans PR on Twitter provided an update on Evans at the beginning of the second half:



Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports reported coach Monty Williams said the injury Evans sustained is a "new" one, and that he would have an MRI Saturday night.

Scott Kushner of The Advocate provided comments from Evans following the game:

With Golden State holding a sizable lead at the time of Evans' injury, rushing him back into action likely didn't seem prudent for the Pelicans.

Still, losing him for any future games in this series would hurt New Orleans. Evans averaged 16.6 points, 6.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game and made himself the Robin to Anthony Davis' Batman this season for New Orleans.
