Tim Duncan Injury: Updates on Spurs Star’s Elbow and Return

San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan is dealing with an apparent elbow injury he suffered on Tuesday night against the Toronto Raptors.

Mike Monroe of the San Antonio Express-News reported that Duncan hyperextended his left elbow and added a comment from head coach Gregg Popovich:



Duncan scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the Spurs' 117-107 win. For the season, he is averaging 14.2 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 29.4 minutes a night.

Duncan is no stranger to missing games. The forward hasn't played a full 82-game slate in more than a decade (2001-02). But most of those more recent absences simply boil down to Popovich making sure his veteran stars get enough rest so they are ready to roll come playoff time.

This situation is seemingly reason for a little more concern. Exactly how much won't be known until further details about the ailment are released.
