Thaddeus Young could become a free agent this offseason by exercising an early-termination option in his contract. The Brooklyn Nets are hoping to re-sign the forward if he does hit the open market.

Nets Seek Multiyear Deal Saturday, May 2 Mike Mazzeo of ESPN.com reports Young, along with Brook Lopez, represent key contract questions for the Nets this summer. Sources tell him the Nets are hoping to bring back both members of the frontcourt rotation: "The expectation is that the Nets want to re-sign both Lopez and Thaddeus Young, according to sources, and that could happen after both opt out of the final year of their contracts and agree to multi-year deals to stay in Brooklyn."

Young joined the Nets at the trade deadline in a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves that sent T-Wolves legend Kevin Garnett back to the franchise.

The 26-year-old Georgia Tech product averaged around 14 points and six rebounds while shooting nearly 50 percent from the field after the trade. He appeared in 28 games, starting 20, to help the Nets earn a playoff berth.
