Task: Assemble 2010 Team USA with the Best Available Talent

The 2010 USA National Team headed for the World Championships certainly won’t be compared to the “Dream” or “Redeem” teams of the past.

Fortunately, Duke’s Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski may be just what this team needs. Coach K has willed and molded undermanned, lesser teams into unified champions.

Alongside Coach K is Team USA’s personnel “mastermind” Jerry Colangelo. Colangelo mulls over NBA talent, cohesiveness and strings together a roster based upon their collective abilities.

The original idea of Team USA has taken a few unexpected hits over recent weeks due to injury and commitment concerns.

Youth and professionalism were huge factors in the team’s makeup, which will then allow players to be groomed in a winning system.

The current 13 man roster isn’t bad, and I’d be nitpicking if I made any changes. But what if the USA were to construct a team solely based on current and eligible NBA talent?

Excluding the “Redeem Team”, injured players and those who weren’t committed I’d tweak the roster a bit if I could.
