Spain defeated Senegal 89-56 on Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2014 FIBA World Cup.

Thanks to a 23-point first quarter and 27-point fourth quarter, Spain was able to coast by an overwhelmed Senegal club that lacked true firepower.

Pau Gasol led all scorers with 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting while pulling down five rebounds and blocking three shots in a complete effort.

His brother, Marc, was superb as well, totaling nine points (4-of-4 shooting), six rebounds, four blocks and three assists.

Ricky Rubio ran the point beautifully throughout and finished with seven points, six assists, five rebounds, five steals and a block. His backcourt partner, Jose Calderon, tallied 11 points on 3-of-4 shooting from three while Serge Ibaka managed 11 points, six rebounds and three blocks off the bench.

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Gorgui Dieng was held in check all game long and scored just six points on 1-of-9 shooting. He did, however, pull down seven rebounds.

As a team, Senegal out-rebounded Spain 38-33, including 16-9 on the offensive glass.
