It took him a while to get going, but James Harden's second-half heroics led the Houston Rockets (16-15) to a Christmas Day upset over the San Antonio Spurs (25-6), 88-84.

After scoring just two points on 1-of-6 shooting in the first half, Harden dropped 18 in the final 24 minutes, hitting two crucial fourth-quarter threes along the way. He finished the game with 20 points, nine assists and four rebounds.

His No. 2, Dwight Howard, kept the Rockets close before Harden got going. He was a steady presence on defense and on the boards, finishing with 12 rebounds and 11 points.

Terrence Jones and Jason Terry combined to score 26 off the bench.

The Spurs were led by Kawhi Leonard, who scored 20 points on 8-of-19 shooting and swiped five steals. LaMarcus Aldridge added 18 in the loss.

These teams will meet three more times this season, with the next matchup in San Antonio on January 2.
