Sacramento Kings’ DeMarcus Cousins: Do You Boogie?

September 5th, 2010 by TheRookieWall.com Leave a reply »
On Twitter, DeMarcus Cousins is known as @boogiecousins, a name given to him by Kentucky basketball assistant coach Rod Strickland.

“Coach Rod Strickland at Kentucky gave me the name,” said Cousins when he appeared on ESPN’s First Take. “I would be playing ball and I would do moves that guards would do and coach Strickland said, 'Man, you got a lot of Boogie.' Every time I walked into the gym, he would say, 'What’s up Boogie!' and it just stuck.”

The name has stuck so much that it has not only become Cousins’s Twitter handle, but the Sacramento Kings have recently released a DeMarcus Cousins t-shirt inspired by the name.

Check out the t-shirt below, which is 100 percent white cotton, and has Cousins’s name and number on the left sleeve and Do You Boogie? on the front. The shirt can be be purchased for $20 at the Official Kings Team Store. This is not first DeMarcus Cousins t-shirt to be released; several months ago, Cousins posed with a ROY DMC tee.
