The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly hoping to trade a high draft pick in exchange for proven talent and have set their sights on Indiana Pacers forward Paul George.

Lakers Eye Trade For George To Jump-Start Rebuilding Process Wednesday, May 4 Bill Simmons of the Ringer reported Wednesday the Lakers and the Boston Celtics are both looking to parlay lottery selections into a star player or two this offseason. Simmons noted the Lakers will attempt to build a major package around their top-three pick for George.

It seems unlikely the Pacers would even consider offers for the 26-year-old star. He's coming off a strong bounce-back campaign after missing most of the 2014-15 season and remains under contract with Indiana through 2018-19, according to Spotrac.

That said, it's no surprise the Lakers are shooting for the moon as they look to acquire a new face of the franchise following the retirement of Kobe Bryant. Acquiring a player like George in his prime is far more attractive than using their lottery pick and hoping the prospect pans out over time.
