Paul George Injury Update: Pacers Star Undergoes Surgery on Broken Leg

Paul George suffered one of the more gruesome sports injuries in recent memory, which means the road back to the NBA will be a difficult one. 

In a scrimmage between team USA players prior to the FIBA World Cup, the Indiana Pacers star landed awkwardly on a play and severely injured his leg. Busted Coverage tweeted out a Vine of the incident. (Caution: Injury is gruesome in nature.)

While there are few positives to take from the incident, USA Basketball reported that the surgery was successful, via NBA.com:

USA Basketball National Team member Paul George (Indiana Pacers) suffered a right leg, open tibia-fibula fracture during Friday's USA Basketball Showcase in Las Vegas. George was immediately transferred to Sunrise Hospital (Las Vegas, Nev.) where he underwent successful surgery to fix the fracture. Dr. David Silverberg, Dr. Joseph Yu and USA Basketball team physician Riley Williams (Brooklyn Nets, Hospital for Special Surgery), were present for the surgery. Paul is resting comfortably and is expected to remain hospitalized for approximately three days.
