Nicolas Batum has been slowed by minor injuries throughout the 2014-15 season, and the Portland Trail Blazers forward picked up another one Saturday night against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Continue for updates.

Batum Injures Back vs. Grizzlies Saturday, March 21 Joe Freeman of The Oregonian reported that Batum was suffering from lower back pain and exited Portland's matchup with Memphis. Before leaving, he was on the floor for 15 minutes and went 0-of-4 from the field.

The 26-year-old has had an underwhelming campaign to date. His scoring average has dropped from 13 points a game in 2013-14 to 9.6 heading into Saturday. His field-goals percentage was also down from 46.5 percent to 40.1.

While Batum may not be as important to the Blazers' title chances as Damian Lillard or LaMarcus Aldridge, he's one of Portland's key players nonetheless. He also needs to shoulder a larger burden with Wesley Matthews out.

The team didn't have a lot of depth before the injury to Matthews, and his absence only exacerbated the issue. In the event Batum is hobbled as well, Portland could be in serious trouble.
