NBA Trade Rumors 2012: Is Anderson Varejao a Good Fit in Boston?

Even with the pending loss of Ray Allen, the Boston Celtics seem to be the second best team in the East, and one of the five best in the league.

Allen's loss is not that big, in that the Celtics had already signed a proven sixth man (Allen's likely role next season) in Jason Terry, who can be the spark that Boston needs off the bench.

However, it hurts that he joined Miami, the team Boston is directly competing with.

With this in mind, the Celtics major hole is not having a shooter like Allen, but rather having a true center, who would allow Kevin Garnett to play his normal role at power forward.

While KG was effective in the playoffs at the 5, he will likely wear down if he is forced to play at center for the entire season.

Getting a starting-quality center is difficult these days because they are so hard to find, or they are overpaid.

While acquiring and signing a top-ten big man seems unlikely due to the Celtics unwillingness to break up their core, and rightfully so, there are a few reasonable names that pop into my mind as potential fits in Boston.
