NBA All-Star Saturday doesn’t always stick to the script, but the Sprite Slam Dunk contest played out exactly as anticipated.

Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Zach LaVine dazzled the way his freakish athleticism said he should. The former UCLA star earned 194 of a possible 200 points from the judges, who gave each of his first two dunks a perfect score of 50.

Orlando’s Victor Oladipo joined LaVine in the championship on the strength of his own first-round 50 flush. But Oladipo couldn’t complete his first attempt in the final round, which put him an uphill battle he couldn’t win.

Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo and Brooklyn’s Mason Plumlee, who both stand 6’11”, couldn’t match the magic of their shorter competitors. Plumlee scored just 76 points in the opening round, while the Greek Freak went for only 65.

LaVine was a heavy favorite entering the contest, and everyone inside the Barclays Center understood why.
