Kidd-Gilchrist Cleared For Non-Contact Drills, Expects to Play This Season Wednesday, Jan. 6 Kidd-Gilchrist has been cleared for all non-contact activities following an October surgery to repair a torn labrum, per Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer.

If Kidd-Gilchrist shows progress during those drills, he could be cleared for contact drills in the coming weeks, which would put him one step closer to playing and well ahead of the original six-month recovery timetable.

Kidd-Gilchrist certainly expects to play.

"No question I’m going to play this season," Kidd-Gilchrist said on Wednesday at shootaround, per Bonnell. "I’m going to play. It’s a matter of when now."

The 22-year-old has become one of the better defensive players in the league during his NBA career. He averaged 10.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game last year and established himself as a cornerstone of Charlott ...
