Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Injury: Updates on Hornets Guard’s Shoulder and Return

According to Charlotte Hornets PR, guard Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder after leaving Saturday night's preseason opener against the Orlando Magic. X-rays came back negative.

Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer noted that the injury "could cost him several weeks and the start of the regular season." Bonnell also noted he'll have an MRI on Monday.

Kidd-Gilchrist Leaves on Stretcher Saturday, Oct. 3 The Associated Press (h/t NBA.com) noted that "Gilchrist was curling off a screen late in the second quarter when he tumbled to the ground after absorbing a foul by a Magic player."

He got up holding his right shoulder before going to the locker room. He eventually left on a stretcher, according to Mary Stevens of Basketball Insiders.

He had four points and one assist prior to leaving the game.

Kidd-Gilchrist has struggled to stay on the court over the first three seasons of his career. Last season, he recorded a career-high 10.9 points per game but was limited to 55 games because of injury.
