Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Injury Update: SF to Undergo Surgery on Torn Labrum

Charlotte Hornets small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will miss the remainder of the season after he undergoes surgery Wednesday on a torn labrum, per the team.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical first reported the news.

Kidd-Gilchrist, 22, tore his labrum and needed surgery in October on the shoulder. He was able to return on Jan. 29 after his rehabilitation went quicker than expected, but he suffered the same injury again on Feb. 10 against the Indiana Pacers.



The young forward appeared in just seven games this season, averaging 12.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 29.3 minutes per game.

For a Hornets team clinging to the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference at the moment, the loss is a big one, as Adi Joseph the Sporting News indicated:



The Hornets were 5-2 with Kidd-Gilchrist back in the lineup this season.
