Miami Heat vs. New Orleans Pelicans: In-Game Analysis, Reaction

The Miami Heat and New Orleans Pelicans wrapped up their preseason schedules at the Smoothie King Center on Friday, with the Pelicans coming out on top 93-90 in their first game at home. 

Key performers for the Pelicans included power forward Anthony Davis, who had 25 points and 13 rebounds, and Eric Gordon, who scored 22 points.  

The Heat played without point guard Goran Dragic, due to illness, and relied on Mario Chalmers to step up. Chalmers responded by scoring only five points and notching three assists. 

Luol Deng also sat out, while recovering from a minor hip injury, as reported by Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. With a couple of their stars out, certain youngsters played major minutes in this one. 

Former Duke standout Justise Winslow led the team with 33:01 minutes played. He scored eight points, five rebounds and had two steals. The most impressive young player for the Heat was Hassan Whiteside, who had a double-double while playing aggressively. 

Meanwhile, veterans Chris Bosh and Gerald Green added 19 and 24 respectively.
