Miami Heat Set Franchise Playoff Record with 123 Points

The Miami Heat defeated the Charlotte Hornets by a score of 123-91 in Sunday's Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, setting a new franchise record for most points in a playoff game, per NBA.com/Stats.

The contest was never particularly close, with Miami jumping out to a 41-22 advantage at the end of the first quarter and holding a 67-50 advantage at the half.

Charlotte couldn't cut the lead to fewer than 17 points at any point after halftime, as Miami opened the second half on a 7-0 run and never looked back.

Nine different Heat players scored eight or more points, led by forward Luol Deng (31), center Hassan Whiteside (21) and guard Dwyane Wade (16).

The record-setting performance included just six turnovers and some remarkably efficient shooting, with Miami converting 57.6 percent (49-of-85) of its field-goal attempts, 50 percent of its three-point attempts (9-of-18) and 76.2 percent of its free throws (16-of-21).

Per NBA.com/Stats, the 49 made field goals were good for another franchise playoff record.
