Metta World Peace Predicts Lakers Will Win 62 Games This Season…Seriously

Metta World Peace has predicted that the Los Angeles Lakers will win 62 games this season, according to Lakers beat writer Mark Medina at Inside SoCal.

For those who believe this is out of the blue, it isn't. MWP had previously told ESPN Los Angeles that the goal was to go 73-9 in 2012-13 (via Sports Radio Interviews).

With the Lakers having started at 15-15, that dream is an impossibility. Apparently, 62 games is not.

Medina has the story:

World Peace predicted the Lakers would finish off the last 52 games of the regular season with the same winning percentage (.890) a 73-9 team would over a full season.

I told World Peace the percentage right away...the Lakers would have to go 47-5 in the remaining 52 games to finish 62-20.

'That’s no problem,' World Peace said with a laugh, knowing his ridiculous his prediction sounds. 'That’s the easiest thing I’ve heard all life.'

A crazy prediction by MWP. Isn't it?

If any team has the talent to win 47 of 52 games, it is the Los Angeles Lakers. They'd played a majority of this season with either Steve Nash or Pau Gasol injured.
