Lou Williams Illness: Updates on Lakers Star’s Status and Return

Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Lou Williams is dealing with a illness that will keep him out of Thursday's game against the Chicago Bulls.

Latest on Williams' Illness  Thursday, Jan. 28 Williams is out of action due to an upper respiratory infection, according to Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News.

Williams captured Sixth Man of the Year honors following the 2014-15 season, but the Raptors let him walk in free agency despite averaging a career-high 15.5 points two years removed from tearing his ACL. Williams proceeded to sign a three-year, $21 million deal with the Lakers. 

Williams admittedly needed time to adjust to head coach Byron Scott's system, but he eventually found a niche that allowed him to play off the ball more. 

"It’s been fun," Williams said of his reduced ball-handling duties, according to Medina. "It’s one of the things we needed to do to put guys in a position to be successful. I’m playing my natural position."
