Kent Bazemore Injury: Updates on Hawks SG’s Ankle and Return

Atlanta Hawks small forward Kent Bazemore injured his ankle during Sunday's 97-96 loss to the Utah Jazz and did not return to the game.

Sprained Ankle the Issue for Bazemore Monday, Nov. 16 Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Monday that X-rays on Bazemore's ankle were negative, but an MRI confirmed a sprain. No timetable is set for his return.      

The former Old Dominion Monarch is averaging 12 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in his third season. Bazemore has started all 12 games for the Hawks and was replaced Sunday by Thabo Sefolosha after scoring 16 points in 30 minutes.

Sefolosha is recovering from an injury of his own that forced him to miss the end of the regular season and playoffs in the 2014-15 season. He played 23 minutes Sunday, scoring five points and grabbing six rebounds, but has not scored more than 10 points in a game this season.     

If this is a high-ankle sprain that causes Bazemore to miss time, it could be an issue for the 8-4 Hawks. He ranks  ...
