Kenneth Faried Illness: Updates on Nuggets Star’s Status and Return

January 31st, 2015 by Tyler Conway Leave a reply »
Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried will not play Saturday night versus the Charlotte Hornets due to illness, according to Rick Bonell of the Charlotte Observer.

Bonell reported that head coach Brian Shaw would start Danilo Gallinari in his place.

One of the NBA's best high-energy guys, the Nuggets came into the season expecting a leap from the Morehead State product. Faried excelled alongside Anthony Davis for Team USA at the 2014 FIBA World Cup, a coming-out party that undoubtedly gave him leverage as he negotiated a four-year, $50 million deal.

While Faried's hasn't excelled this season, averaging just under 12 points per game, he's still a vital cog in the Nuggets roster. The Nuggets have struggled this season with Faried in the lineup. If he misses an extended period, things will surely get worse.
