Jodie Meeks Injury: Updates on Lakers Guard’s Ankle and Return

Los Angeles Lakers guard Jodie Meeks exited the team's Feb. 4 contest against the Minnesota Timberwolves and will not return after spraining his right ankle early in the first quarter.

Meeks sustained the injury just over a minute into the contest, when he came down on the foot of Timberwolves guard Corey Brewer's foot, awkwardly twisting his ankle. Obviously in pain, coach Mike D'Antoni called a quick timeout to sub Meeks out for Nick Young at the 10:33 mark in the first quarter.

The severity of the injury beyond the next two games is unclear at this time. Ruling him out so swiftly indicates there has to be some level of concern, as teams sometimes keep players with minor sprains in the game to keep their ankles "loose."
