Jimmy Butler Injury: Updates on Bulls Star’s Knee and Return

Chicago Bulls guard Jimmy Butler missed Wednesday's game because of a knee injury.

Butler Dealing with Tendinitis Wednesday, Feb. 3 Butler played 47 minutes in Chicago's overtime loss to the Utah Jazz on Monday, but he missed Wednesday's victory over the Sacramento Kings. Nick Friedell of ESPN.com passed along a pregame quote from coach Fred Hoiberg: "Jimmy's knee flared up on him. The one he got bumped the other night. Jimmy's going to sit tonight."

Friedell also noted Hoiberg "sounded confident Butler will play Friday against the Denver Nuggets."

While it seems like the injury isn't particularly serious, losing Butler for significant time would be a devastating blow to Chicago's title hopes.

He turned into a legitimate NBA star last season and set career highs in scoring (20), rebounds (5.8) and assists (3.3) per game and is the unquestioned leader for Chicago when it comes to perimeter defense. He is also a workhorse when healthy and led the NBA in minutes per game (38.7) in 2014-15.
