James Harden, Rockets Agree to Extension: Twitter Reacts to Massive Contract

James Harden has been the face of the Houston Rockets since he was traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2012, and on Saturday, he cashed in with a new deal with the team. 

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical provided the yearly salary breakdown for Harden's new contract with the Rockets:



Rockets owner Leslie Alexander began the press conference to announce Harden's extension by calling the four-time All-Star "the best player in the NBA," per Mark Berman of Fox 26:

While $29.5 million on average does seem like a lot of money, Harden has been an MVP candidate in the past and has led the NBA in total points scored each of the last two seasons. It makes more sense to give him this extension than, say, the Los Angeles Lakers giving Timofey Mozgov for $16 million per season.
