Jahlil Okafor Stuffs D’Angelo Russell’s Floater Attempt in NBA Summer League

July 11th, 2015 by Jake Silver Leave a reply »

Heading into the 2015 NBA draft, Duke center Jahlil Okafor was widely expected to be picked No. 2 overall after the Minnesota Timberwolves' anticipated selection of Karl Anthony-Towns.

The Towns pick went as expected, but the Los Angeles Lakers shook things up at No. 2, opting for Ohio State's D'Angelo Russell over Okafor, who fell to the Philadelphia 76ers at No. 3.

Just like that, the two would forever be linked.

On Saturday, the Lakers and Sixers competed in a Las Vegas Summer League game. In the final seconds of the first half, Russell, known as a gifted scorer, drove into the lane for a floater. Okafor, known for his stellar offense but lackluster defense, was ready.

With one of his planet-sized paws, Okafor palmed the floater before it even left Russell's hand.

This rivalry is off to a good start.
