Dwyane Wade Injury Update: Heat Guard Ruled out of 2015 NBA All-Star Game

Dwyane Wade earned an All-Star nod due to his strong play this season, but the veteran Miami Heat guard will not participate in Sunday's All-Star Game due to injury.

Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press first reported the news:



D-Wade has missed the Heat's past six games due to a strained right hamstring, and with his immediate status very much up in the air, he decided to remove his name from consideration.

Per Reynolds, the 33-year-old guard cited his commitment to getting healthy in order to help the Heat as the main reason behind his decision:



Wade's absence opens up a spot for another player to step in, andE SPN's Marc Stein reported Hawks guard Kyle Korver will replace him.

Wade had hoped Brandon knight would be chosen, according to ESPN.com's Tom Haberstroh:



Injuries have limited Wade to just 35 games this season, but he has been productive on the court to the tune of over 21 points and five assists as well as nearly four rebounds per contest.
