Devin Harris Injury: Updates on Mavericks Guard’s Toe and Return

Dallas Mavericks point guard Devin Harris suffered a left toe strain against the Houston Rockets on Sunday.

Harris Out For Remainder of Game Sunday, Jan. 24 Harris has been ruled out and will not return, the team announced.   

Harris played only 10 minutes and did not take a shot. He left the floor with three rebounds and two assists.

Harris, the Mavericks' sixth man, has been relied upon to be Dallas' instant offense off the bench. His ability to attack the basket and hit shots from the perimeter make him a valuable asset in head coach Rick Carlisle's offense.

He scored 15 points off the bench in 33 minutes on Wednesday's 106-94 overtime victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Harris' absence is crucial to the Mavericks' rotation, but it's not a complete loss. Carlisle has specialized in using three-guard lineups, which is why guards J.J. Barea and Raymond Felton have seen an increase in playing time this year. Both play well off the ball and while running the offense.
