Sacramento Kings superstar DeMarcus Cousins is doing his part to support the fight against epilepsy.
During Friday's game against the Phoenix Suns, Cousins will sport shoes inscribed with "#TeamAria" and "#EndEpilepsy" and donate those kicks to the Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California to be auctioned off, per Slam Magazine.
The former hashtag is a tribute to the daughter of one of Cousins' close friends, the two-time All-Star said in a press release (via Slam Magazine):
A close friend of mine’s daughter was diagnosed with Epilepsy and battled seizures her first 2 years so this cause hits close to home. She ended up having brain surgery and has been seizure-free since. It really is an incredible story. Anything I can do to help promote Epilepsy awareness, I am with it. Hopefully with my so-called celebrity, I can help open more people’s eyes to Epilepsy disorders.
Friday’s contest comes just a day before Purple Day—an internationally recognized day dedicated to raising epilepsy advocacy and education.
