As all the haters lay into Kevin Durant for leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder for the record-setting Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers guard JJ Redick has something to say.
There is an unfair double standard when it comes to free agency.
When a team makes a huge transaction to better its chances at a championship, the team is typically lauded for going for it all. But when players such as LeBron James or Durant change teams for a better chance to win a title, they get ripped for being disloyal or for "taking the easy road."
That doesn't sit well with Redick—as he made clear on Twitter on Thursday:
Not only does the veteran guard voice his opinion, but he also brings up an interesting fact. Sure, James has been to six straight NBA Finals since the Heatles formed. However, five different franchises have won a title during that stretch.
In other words, even though a roster may look like a superteam on paper, championships aren't guaranteed. There is plenty of talent throughout the league, and even a roster full of All-Stars may not be able to win multiple titles.
