Goran Dragic scored 25 points, Hassan Whiteside posted a double-double and the Miami Heat dismantled the Charlotte Hornets, 106-73, in Game 7 of of their first-round Eastern Conference playoff series at American Airlines Arena on Sunday afternoon to advance to the second round.
The Heat meant business right out of the gate, taking a 29-18 lead after one quarter of play.
The Hornets weathered the storm early, eventually trimming the deficit to four, but Miami closed the half on a 10-2 run to take 54-42 lead into the break.
Then, the third quarter happened.
The Heat outscored the Hornets 29-11 in the decisive third period, with Whiteside swatting and contesting nearly every shot at the rim and Miami taking advantage on the other end.
The Heat continued to pour it on in the fourth quarter, with the end result never in doubt.
Miami held Charlotte to 32.1 percent shooting and outrebounded the Hornets, 58-36.
Frank Kaminsky was Charlotte's leading scorer with 12.
Kemba Walker scored just nine points off 3-of-16 shooting.
