Chandler Parsons Injury: Updates on Mavericks Forward’s Knee and Recovery

Dallas Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons has not been fully cleared for the start of training camp as he continues to recover from knee surgery.

Parsons 1 Of 3 Key Mavericks Not Cleared for Camp Monday, Sept. 21 ESPN.com's Tim MacMahon reported Parsons, center JaVale McGee and guard Wesley Matthews will all be worked into action "gradually" when the Mavs start camp next week.

Parsons, 26, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in May to fix cartilage damage. He missed 10 of Dallas' last 11 games, including four of five in its first-round loss to the Houston Rockets. Despite pain, Parsons attempted to play in Game 1 of the series, scoring 10 points on 5-of-15 shooting, before being shut down.

Earl K. Snead of the Mavericks' official website reported Parsons is still planning to be ready by opening night. Given their wild offseason—most notably DeAndre Jordan's last-minute switcheroo—the Mavs will need all hands on deck next season.
