NBA rappers are flat-out awful 99 percent of the time. Ron Artest, Shaq's "tell me how my a** tastes," Kobe's sorry attempt at a rebuttal and Chris Webber's hilarious flow.

Brandon Bass, however, breaks the mold.

The lockout is giving NBA players a chance to take part in their other hobbies and showcase their other talents. Contrary to Bass' song, balling isn't all he does.

Bass actually has some talent. Unlike the players heading overseas or LeBron joking (or not) about heading to the NFL, he's not putting his body at risk. He's making music and doing a decent job showing off his rap talents.

Not all NBA players are one-dimensional. Obviously most players would rather be on the court than anywhere else. Given a choice, Bass would probably trade the studio for the hardwood in a heartbeat.

Even so, players need to figure out a way to make the best of a bad situation. Bass dropped the NBA lockout anthem, and it's hard to believe that he's done.
