Boston Celtics: Rajon Rondo Dishes Out 17 Dimes in 88-80 Win Over Heat

Scoring points with ease is one thing.But dishing out double-digit assists is even more impressive.

Forget LeBron James' 31 point effort in his Miami debut; the Heat still lost by eight.

Heck, even forget about the four Celtics players to score in double figures or Shaq's debut in Boston.

The story of the night belonged to Rajon Rondo, who dished out 17 dimes in the team's season-opening victory over the Heat.

Rondo's 17 assists, one shy of a career high, are the third-most in a season opener since the 1986-97 season, according to ESPN—behind only John Stockton's 19 dimes in 1989 and Tim Hardaway's 18 assists in 1990.

Regardless of Miami's loss, James wasn't too concerned when speaking with the media following the Heat's 88-80 loss to the Celtics.

"We all know Rome wasn't built in one day," James told NBA.com writer Brian Robb on Tuesday night. "We understand that. We just need to continue to get better."
